Sunday in Kona

Kona Day 2

The morning started really early for me. We are 5 hours ahead of Chicago, so, I slept in until 9AM Chicago time, which was actually about 4AM in Kona.

I sent Malia a "happy mother's day" message and she sent me back a text saying, 'The coffe is ready, come on up!" There's nothing like Kona Coffee, especially when you are drinking it in Kona! Their doctor's wife made some special banana nut macadamia bread and we polished a small loaf off for breakfast.

We drove down the coast for church, attending the 7AM mass at St. Michael's (with St. Michael:)) Following is a picture of the tent I referred to yesterday! Also, the lei that Mike is wearing was given to him by a lady as he walked back to his seat after
After church Malia put flowers on Napua's mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, and aunt's graves. We then went to an outside open market and picked up some vegetables, shoes, a top and flowers for our hair.
We then drove up the mountain to Malia's moms to wish her a happy mother's day. She is a sweet, precious lady who I come to love dearly. She is so young at heart, very vibrant and all 16 grandchildren love being at her house, it's where they all hang-out.
We went back home and Malia prepared a stew for the crockpot and we left it to cook while we, minus me, went to golf at the beautiful Makalei Golf Course in the mountains; let the pictures speak.
Another beautiful, relaxing day in Hawaii.
