A Day in Monterey

Ironically, Tommy was flying on a buddy pass from Augusta to Monterey as an SA9P, (that's not a good status! :) We were flying as SA4P's, which is not a bad status, but a lot better than a 9! He made all of the flights as scheduled. Mike and I were happy...it was more important to us that he got home.

A SIDE STORY WHILE IN AUGUSTA
After unloading the truck we were in the house when the doorbell rang. It was two young girls from the neighborhood, Bailey and Emma, looking for Marley. They had already talked to Tommy and learned all about her. When they saw our truck they thought she had arrived. They hung out about 30 minutes then came back later and asked if Marley could come to Emma's birthday party on June 12th. We were all so excited to share this with Marley; how cool to already have friends and she's not even there, yet!

BACK TO OUR ARRIVAL IN CALIFORNIA
We arrived in San Jose on Tuesday, May 4th...Mike's birthday. Caron and Angelina picked us up and we made the 45 minute trek to Monterey. Tara and Finn were coming up the coast from the other direction to celebrate with us. We all met at Tommy and Caron's. Shortly after arriving Mike took off for an hour ten minute run around Monterey Bay. We caught up with him at Starbucks.
Looking down toward the bay, up the hill from Starbucks. A seagull landed on a car.

We then went to lunch at a world renown (to all linguist) deli, which is defied by it's appearance, but not by it's products...the biggest, best sandwhich we have had in a long time! Here we are dining outside.
After lunch we went to pick Marley up from school. Mike and I walked down the hill to get her. We love taking them to school and picking them up...(also love fixin' their lunches!) We walked right by her, unnoticed, turned around and then she saw us...screaming she ran into Grandpa Mike's arms, then promptly picked up her backpack without acknowledging me...that always happens when he's with me!!! I really don't mind; I love how all of the grandkids love him!

Tara's plans changed a bit after she arrived at her mom's in Cambria so, she had to bring her doggie, Nishoni(sp?) with her. We dropped them off, then Caron, Mike and I went shopping for Marley's 9th birthday, it's the 15th and we will be in Korea. After shopping we picked Colten up from school. He is getting so tall and is very handsome.

Back at home, homework was in progress for Colten and Marley, Tommy was working out, Mike was being 'grandpa' and I caught up with my banking.

We took a walk through Farmer's Market in downtown Monterey then went to a wonderful Chinese Restaurant, "Dynasty" for Mike's birthday dinner.

Finn fell asleep at the market so Uncle T held him until he awoke.

Back at home we watched 24 and then it was bedtime, as we had to set the alarm for 4:30AM.

Caron and Tara drove us to the Monterey Airport where we faced an uncommon travel challange for us; two flight opportunities; however, they were only 5 minutes apart...decision time! I feel as if I made the wrong choice, but can't second guess that now. Made the flight to Phoenix for a continuing flight to Sacramento. Had planned a bus ride from the airport to the train into Auburn. After talking to Linda, she offered to pick us up in Sacramento; I'm cheap, but was more than happy to relinquish the $28 I had spent on the train reservation. More time with my dear friend...we will be working in her garden, while Mike takes a run. Then she will be feeding us fresh eggs, from her chickens and homegrown veggies from her garden; can't wait!! I'll post pictures tomorrow.

LOVING LIFE!!!
