May 12, 6:15AM
We awoke again at, you guessed it, 4AM and are presently at the airport waiting to board a flight to Tokyo!
Tuesday, May 11th Update
We arrived in Honolulu around 7AM, less than an hour after departing Kona, for our 12 noon flight on Korean Air to Seoul. Their check-in counter did not open until 9AM. Those of you who really know me, know that I had to immediately get in line; that would make us 'first' to check-in. :) Mike scored us some Starbucks coffee and a muffin, so we were good to 'go' or 'stay' as it would happen.
I seated myself on the luggage cart, which was actually pretty comfortable and updated the blog; purpose, right?
Promptly, at 9AM the agent called us, to inform us that we would have to wait until 11:30 for them to 'clear' standbys and we should come back then. Needeless to say, we did a lot of people watching; noting the resemblances to people we know. We always enjoy doing that and it gives us some big laughs!
We returned to check-in and to make a long storyy short, we didn't make the flight. A family of 5 was ahead of us and their were three seats on the plane, they split and took the seats. (They know how to fly standby; you can't let a seat go, even if it meaans splitting up, especially in today's world of flying standby!)
I didn't have any backup plan out of Hawaii, but thank goodness there was a USAirways counter that would open at two, where we could purchase additional ZED fare tickets that would assist in getting us to Busan.
Heeding all warnings regarding being duped into a 'bad' hotel, we went through a hotel broker to book a room near the airport that offered a shuttle. They had warned, "don't go by pictures", we trusted them!
As we drove through the back roads, we figured it was a short cut, we were in the middle of a very digressed industrial area of town. You can imagine our surprise when the blinker went on and the driver pulled into a semi-alley, between to old buildings to our 5Star (minus about 3Stars) hotel. Hey, it was clean and had a vending machine drug store, for what more could we have asked?
We asked the shuttle driver if there was a place nearby for lunch. He recommended a 'lovely' Chinese restaurant which was a short walk from the 'inn'. Mike practiced eating with chop sticks and was complimented on his skills by another couple who was dining. We awoke again at, you guessed it, 4AM and are presently at the airport waiting to board a flight to Tokyo!

From there we walked on to the airport to take care of business. On our walk through the brush and debris we came across this beautiful painting on the side of a garagae in the middle of the industrial district. :)
Upon our return, we talked to the 'concierge' (very loose use of the term :)) regarding transportation to Waikki. He told us of a ride that would give us a great tour of the city. So we walked two blocks and underneath the freeway we caught city bus #20, which delivered us to the pretty beaches of Waikiki (not half as pretty as the Kona beaches and Mike said 'Barefoot Beach' is much better than this!)
We spent the better part of the afternoon there and tried to get back to the 'inn' before dark. (for obivious reasons) We didn't quite beat 'dark' and it was almost time for 'Idol' so, Mike ran (I walked really fast) back to the hotel for a really good nights sleep.

We are just finishing our 'first' cup of Starbucks this morning and heading to the gate. 'They' say the flight looks good; we know 'they' aren't in control; so we wait. Hopefully, this will be our last post from Honolulu.
God is so good, His mercies never end!!

I know Dad said that the beach wasn't as nice as Kona or FL, but I'd still take it! hahah At least you got to explore a little in your travels. Sometimes those are the best bits (or at least the most adventurous!)! Have a good flight to Tokyo! :)
