OH MY!
Yesterday, when we didn't make the flight. I cried, not hard but there were tears rolling down my face. I was so disappinted. My sweet boy would be waiting for me and he would be dissappointed. Also, this was Mike's first trip to Korea and I wanted everything to be perfect. (I had an idea of what "I thought" our perfect situations would be.)
From the last update I hope that you could read my heart; I was really okay with the hitch in "my plans".
Arriving at the airport before 6AM this morning, the Delta agents were there and we were allowed to check-in for the flight as standbys. That meant we could go through security; to the other side:) That's the side where you can get more than a cup of Starbucks. So we had a cup of coffee and a muffin; then later we shared a Burger King breakfast sandwich.
At check-in the agent had indicated the flight was wide open and that we should have no problem making the flight. That relieves some of the stress, but there's always the possibility that something out of the blue could change in an instant! We ' ve learned to never count our eggs before they hatch.
We were waiting patiently listening for our names to be called. We were on the 'outside'looking into the boarding area which was located' inside 'a secure custom's area. I saw the gate agent pick up the mic and say something which could not be heard on the 'outside'. I sheepishly went through the sliding glass doors and told the gentleman his announcement was not heard 'outside'. He asked, "What's your name?" I said, "Winkler", at which point he took my flight coupon and boarding pass. I motioned for Mike to come 'inside' the secured area. The gate agent handed Mike a boarding pass and then me. Mike said he had seen our seat assignment right away and was looking at my face when I saw mine. At first there was disbelief, will I ever learn, and then kiddish glee. We just looked at each other and started laughing.
As we boarded the plane with the first class passengers, I thanked the agent and told him how we feel so extremely blessed! I said to Mike, "I'm going to cry. I can't believe how good God is to us. "He just said somethig like," When are you going to get it? "When God makes the way, you can be guaranteed it will always, always be better than 'my' or 'your' way. He has a much bigger and better plan for us than we could ever manufacture for ourselves.
FOR EXAMPLE:
A wonderful day in Honolulu; Business Class on a 747 with total reclining seats, unbelieveable meals, our own sceens to watch any movie we wanted, plush down blankets, oversized pillows and three very attentive flight attendants!
Mike said it was like being in a spa all day and then he said this is the honeymoon we never had ... we were like two little kids. Our 'server' Tripp, was really nice and so attentive. He kept taking pictures of us!
We say, "Thank you, Lord." Now the pictures will speak!
